    how do I create an alpha channel for black and white footage? there are 2 characters that I want to use, but want to get rid of the background. thanks.

    It’s called rotoscoping. You need to trace mattes for the 2 characters you want to keep in the footage. If you have Motion, you can roto with that. Otherwise, you’d want to use After Effects, Combustion or Silhouette Roto.
