a question of FCP
A question about Final cut pro. I got some problems when I try to capturevideo into the computer. Just a few seconds, the computer stop caturing and show some error messeges. then, I use imovie to cature video, and basically works. When I import the video into fcp, the video will freeze and audio still goes on…. I just don’t know why… I need experts to help me out…

If you are running Nortons or other Anti-Virus software, it could be conflicting with FCP.
All Anti-Virus software should be disabled when running FCP.Wayne

I don’t have any anti-virus software running in my Mac….
that’s why I feel weird…. -
If you could disclose your system details it would be much easier to try and diagnose your problem with FCP. Otherwise it’s like a shot in the dark since there are so many ways to configure and use FCP. Type of Mac, amount of RAM, version of your operating system, version of FCP, size and type of internal hard drive(s), external hard drives used and how they’re connected to the computer, how full are your hard drives, etc. Anything you can think of that would help to define your system.
When was the last time you performed system mantainence such as repairing permissions, rebuilding hard disk directories, etc.
FCP captures media in a completely different way than iMovie, so there are a number of things that have to be working properly in order for the capture process to be uninterrupted and seamless. FCP works with time code and iMovie doesn’t, for example.
One thing you can try with Final Cut Pro is to trash its preference files, which sometimes cures things if the program is acting strangely. Here’s a link that shows you how to do this properly and why it needs to be done from time to time:

my powerbook is 1.5 GHZ and 1G Ram
a 80 GB hard drive and a 300 External HD.
os x 10.4.3 and Final Cut pro 5.0do you need any information more?

Try trashing prefs first and then post back. I’ll wait before I ask for more info.
