Thanks for the idea, but I don’t think it’s sync slippage. If that were the case, wouldn’t the sync problem begin as a minor thing, and get worse through the course of the tape? The full sync offset starts at the head, and stays consistent through the tape. And I’ve never had a slippage issue with my dvx-100a.

Keep in mind that capturing entire tape rolls at full res was entirely unheard of before FCP came out. Capturing long sections of digital video, as a rule of thumb, needs fast drives with healthy throughput-for a more sustained data rate. Often, a standard external firewire drive may not have enough UUUMPH. Thax’s advice is good should you continue to experience problems with your current setup.

If that’s not the problem, are you capturing 24P? What is the cadence you are using?

I’m capturing and editing in 29.97- isn’t that a usable work flow for 24p without the pulldown?
