FCP5, RAM Graphics Card and general performance
having just upgraded to FCP 5 and Tiger with all the updates and a new Decklink Card….I have to say I’m a little dissapointed. performance was much snappier with 4.5, osx 10.3.7 and my cinewave. UI performance under tiger and FCP 5 feels quite ‘sticky’.
It seems to take an age to redraw the interface when you make a change and the spinning beach ball makes a short but annoying appearance every time i adjust a slider. Am i right in thinking that version 5 requires more RAM and a new Graphics card?
I currently have 2 GB of RAM and I note that many here talk about having upwards of 4GB in their macs now – will i notice much improvement if i bump mine up to 4 GB?. Also have the standard 9600 graphics card, will FCP gain anything from going to an ATI x800 XT for instance?
After the anticipation of doing the upgrade it’s pretty dissapointing to have wound up with worse performance than my previous rig. I flattened my mac to do this upgrade so it’s definetly not a achive and install issue.
any suggestions and solidarity appreciated 🙂
