Importing ALE files
Does anyone know how I could import an Avid log file (ALE)? It’s not an edit list, but just the logging info that I want to get into the FCP browser. (FCP 5 or 4.5)

You can bring the ALE into Cinema Tools, and then export it back out of Cinema Tools as a Final Cut Pro batch list.

I have used it for years to convert Avid’s medialog files to FCP.

Sebsky is a free and standalone small app. It does also other conversions in a drag and drop fashion, very simple to use. In my opinion it definitely deserves a try.

Thanks. My partner tried it and says it converted the ALE to a txt file, but I’m not sure how to import that into FCP.

Select the Browser window, create a new bin (folder) and open it, then under the File menu select Import, then Batch List at 29.97 fps (the fps will be set at whatever your default sequence present timebase is set to). Then point to the file, and it will import.
If you haven’t selected a browser window as the active window, import batch list will be grayed out.
