I have a deck Sony HVR-M10U. The source tape is come from Canon XL2 and it was shot 24p. When I capture it to FCP 5.0.2 using AJA Kona 2 with Kbox using easy set up 24 or 23.98 10 bit uncompressed, only video but no audio, timecode and deck control.

The signal flow is HVR Ilink to DataVideo DAC 30 IEEE1394, DAC 30 SDI OUT to Kona 2 SDI in. The audio is the same from HDV Ilink to DAC 30, DAC 30 AES/EBU bnc Ch 1/2 out to Kona 2 to Kona 2 AES/EBU ch 1/2 in. DAC 30 is getting the audio signal. I can see it from the audio meters.

As far the deck control the DAC 30 does not convert Ilink to RS-422. My option is to install a keyspan USA-28x and connect that to DAC 30. Change the port from Kona 2 to Stealth on FCP device control presets.

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

When you capture from DV using 24p you need to capture the footage at 29.97 then use compressor to change it to 23.98. Your problems should go away. You need to remember that DV always films at 29.97 no matter what your settings are. So the changes to 23.98 need to occur in the computer. And if you film at 24p Advanced you capture at 29.97 with pulldown removal tool. That will take your footage to 23.98 instantly and in the correct format. But, you want to set your sequences for 23.98. So, it’s capture at 29.97- set sequences at 23.98.
