More transition questions…
Hi,
I am looking at this transtion reel on geethree.com, the link Fusion Factory
I wanted to know how I could do the 3rd, 4th and 7th transition. The 7th one more so, I think I have a grasp on 3 and 4, but 7 is a motion paint brush, that has a liquid feel to it.
I am not quite grasping how they pulled that one off. Any input would be great.Thanks

All of these transitions are created with grayscales that are fed into either a “CC Image Wipe” or a “Gradient Wipe” effect.
Do a Cowsearch or Google on “gradient wipe” and you’ll find some tutorials on how to create in photoshop the grayscale images needed.
They are usually based on some distortion or noise effects on simple radial or linear gradients, although the brush stroke on is a bit harder to pull off.

So how would I pull off the paint effect with a gradient wipe/image wipe, or would I use some other technique?

Basically a gradient that looks somthing like this:
I just made three rough selections in PS and filled them with gradients form 0-33%, from 33-66% and from 66-100% greyscale.

Pretty basic stuff:
I choose one of photoshop’s brushes that emulates a paintstroke, set it pretty big and then:
create a selection by brushing in the quick mask, switch to selection.
Fill that selection with a linear gradient from left to right using colors 0% grey to 33% grey.on a layer below that one: create the middle stroke selection, gradient 33-66 right to left
on a layer below that: create the bottom stroke selection, gradient 66-100 left to right.
No filters were used.
