New Plugin for After Effects…
Hey everybody and Happy Halloween,
we’ve just released a new after effects plugin this week!
The first of the Taronites called ZbornToyThe website’s server is not the fastest everywhere in the world, so please, bare with us!
It’s a 2.5d rendering plugin that features everything from lighting with shadows, environmental illumination and shading to refraction and caustic projections. It works with depth images and either creates normals or allows the use of normal maps. All important paramters are texturable and animatable, of course! But most of all it is lightningly fast, feature quality and easy to use!
Download the plugin and run it without a licence to get a feel for it. Only our handsome watermark will be in the way of using it directly for production.
I’m not sure how well it is received to say “hello” with an advertising like this, but I just know you’ll have to see it before we start a big advertising campaign. We also would love to see some more user work and with your permission, we could showcase more examples!

Nice stuff! Did your title design quicktime use Zaxwerks 3D Invigorator for the 3D test or does Zborntoy only work with external 3D applications? (please let it work with Zax!).

Hahaha, sorry, that’s kinda funny!
NOOOO, no, no, it’s much more simple!
The title design is really just two images of text, moved separately for a slight 3d effect. The ZbornToy works on images, regardless to where they are from! Much like a bumpmap it considers brightness as height, but it actually turns it into geometry, so to say! Therefore particularely depth-images, or z-buffer images, how ever you’d like to call them, are suitable, because the surface normal calculations of the ZbornToy are accurate. I mean, I could go into the details on this one, but I should spare you, unless you’d ask me to!?Anyway, just download the plugin and try it out, you will see! If you like it, it’s about a dinner for two with tips, I can practically promiss you, you can not regret it! 🙂

Errr, alright, I found out what Zax 3d is, I guess. Some kind of 3d camera simulation? I’ll do some digger deeping later, but so far we were putting in only a “depth perception” parameter, which was ment to consider the camera lens-opening for reflections and refractions.
The kicker about the ZbornToy is much rather it’s simplicity and integrity. Going beyond that is part of the plan, but it also depends on the response to this version of course. I’m heavily tempted to already disclose developments, but for all our sake, don’t let me, please! 8I
As I said, I will look into the Zax thingy (what a clever name), but as of right now my assumption would be: Nope.

AH, I’m sneaking a new subject line in…haha!
Well, schoene Gruesse zurueck an Euch beide, but in a few moments I will hook up the latest tutorial video! It’s kind of entertaining, I think. It shows the use of Vector Paint as source material for the ZbornToy. It goes through the major features, but most of all introduces the workflow a bit more.
Again, you can use any footage with the plugin and it will give you a good time… …even without having… zax… .. ha… …haha…sorry…(oh my god, I must be tired).
Anyway, in this tutorial video it shows how much the ZbornToy adds to After Effects internal goodies. Yet, the clip can hardly scratch the surface, of course.

Just too bad It’s not that terribly useful for most of what I do.”Hehe, don’t get smart with me… ;O) To elaborate: Most of what I do involves non-contiguous depth maps and thus my stuff supposedly would look pretty much like the “design” examples on your webpage – high-fidelity glassworks and marbles (no offence). Granted, better-looking than your average glass plugin but not that terribly useful to me. Maybe your next outing will bring a plugin that would somehow fit into my workflows and improve them, but for the time being I guess I’ll have to look at what your competitors have on offer. Give my best to Philip.
