    Hi all,

I just shot a commercial with a Panasonic Varicam, downcoverted to MiniDV, digitized to FCP, edited, and now I’m trying to export an uncompressed Quicktime movie. Trouble is, I’m seeing quite a bit of horizontal lines/ artefacting in the image that I’m not really satisfied with.

Is there a way to avoid this in the export settings, or is this just camera limitations? (I don’t have easy access to an HD deck to review the HD tapes.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

Try exporting a self contained QT movie using “current settings”. You’d gain nada exporting it as anything other than DV anyway.

Are you watching this movie on your computer monitor? If so, you are seeing the interlace which is present in your DV footage. Watch that movie out to a CRT and the lines will go away.

Also, listen to Jerry. Keep the movie in dv format. You gain nothing exporting out to uncompressed except time and file size.
