I came across this effect on http://www.stardust.tv and the windows xp ads have objects moving around the people.

Does anyone know of a tutorial on how to do this?

I already did the first part of shooting people digitally and then removing the background color using Keylight in After Effects.

I was wondering if they used a plugin like Trapcode to move the objects around or did they use a rendered video out of a 3d program.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

You can make your keyed people in 3D layers, then depending on the level of 3D-ness you need, After Effect’s own 3D layers allows you to move those layer and your objects layers around in 3D space.

Alternatively, if your 3D objects need to be full on 3D, render them out and use the split layers option to bring them in front and behind your actors.

    Hope that helps
