Urgent! Photoshop related but Im getting no responses.
Sorry for this but I may be loosing my sanity.
“I have to save a bunch(hundreds)of pngs. I have created a .psd with hundreds of layers of text. I need to save each individual layer as a .png. As it stands currently when I go to save them out Photoshop will always default to the folder where the .psd is saved and the with the .psd extension highlighted. Is there a way to get photoshop to remember what and where I saved my last file as instead of me having to find the proper folder and .png setting each and every time. After about 200 of these it gets a bit tedious. I am on windows xp.
I tried an action but I couldnt get it the way i wanted. Is there a way to get it to ask you want you want name the file? Right now i can get it to save with no name but then I have to rename it before I can run the action again or it saves over top of it.
Here’s my ideal wish. The files I want to save are all text to be used as supers in a tv program, I need to save them all as pngs. If I could get it to save them as pngs with a file name that matches the layer name that would make me weep with joy. Any help would be very appreciated.”

you didn’t mention if you have afx but if you do, try importing the pshop file as a composition, select all the layers in the comp and trim them to 1 frame duration, then use the keyframe assistant to sequence the layers with no transition, each layer 1 frame long, then export or make movie where the movie is a png sequence that will get stored to a single new folder that you name. you’ll have a folder with the individual png’s sequentially named/numbered. should work.

Alternate method: Use Photoshop script “Export Layers to Files”, it’ll save out .psds with the layer names. Then you could batch the .psds to .pngs maybe?

Or why not just save everthing to the folder that photoshop chooses (the one with the original .psd in) and at the end of the process simply drag these 200 .png files to wherever you want ?
