  Capturing SD footage for HD project

  I’m new to FCP and HD material. I’ve cut a HD project using DVCPRO HD720p60 setting. I now need to import some SD digibeta footage. Do I use the same setting or import using a 525 setting. The DVC Pro tapes were brought in via firewire however I have a AJA Kona 2 card as well which I’ve used to take in footage for a differnet SD project.
  By the way this forum is amazing. Though I’m new to FCP I’ve been editing for over 20 years, the last 10 on Avid. Although I was leary at first, I must say I’ve come to love FCP after only a month!

  You can capture via SDI directly to the DVCPro HD Codec. Just set your Capture Preset to the AJA DVCPro HD setting and it will automatically upconvert your DigiBeta material. It will look pretty good. There’s no line doubling so you will see some jaggies from the interlaced footage, but it works quite well.
