  mask tracking layer beneath – tried AE calf- but no responses.

  Hi,
  I’ve got a masked layer that I need to track the layer beneath it.
  The footage is identical- and there’s a slight drifting pan to the footage.
  PC running AE 6.5 pro

  The masked, top layer, is a different reddish color- it’s for a POV shot – looking thru the guy’s red sunglasses – which are broken. So I’ve got the top layer “red lens” mask for 2/3 of the frame- then beyond the masked footage- there is the normal, uncolored, footage. But because of the slight panning motion to the footage -I need the mask to move in synch with the bottom layer.

  I believe this is called a “track matte”?

  Any suggestions – or if you know of a tutorial, I’d appreciate it.

  Thanks- I think I’ve got it working. I did both motion tracking and stablization- then I did the parenting- and it looks pretty cool- I’ve got some drifting movement going on with the sunglasses and then the duplicate footage is stabilzed and doesn’t drift- so the effect is that you’re actually looking through the guys glasses. Gotta admit- I got really lucky on this- just started trying various combos etc- and I hit it.
