  • Losing clarity when exporting to QuickTime

Posted by Simon Malcolm on October 7, 2005 at 7:36 am

I have created a presentation in Keynote at 720 x 576. I have synchronised it with a soundtrack in FCP 5 and am now exporting it via QuickTime export and Compressor export only to find that it has lost the clarity of the resolution. What should I be doing to maintain the perfect clarity I had created originally?

    Hi,

Did you export a DV quicktime? If so, ensure HIGH QUALITY is checked on the VISUAL SETTINGS TAB of your VIDEO TRACK in the MOVIE PROPERTIES dialog.

No suggestions from me if this ain’t it.

If the project is now interlaced or has been reduced in size, it will not maintain the clarity of the original Keynote.

Or if you created a DV Quicktime it will not maintain the clarity. The only way to maintain the clarity would be to create a Lossless Quicktime at the same frame size as the original. But again, a progressive timeline would yield the best results but not sure if that will work for your application.

Thanks Walter. I understand the Lossless Quicktime with same frame size, but I am unsure about what a “Progressive Timeline” is. Is that another way of exporting? Please forgive my ignorance – and my favourite pizza is Pepperoni with extra Pepporoni, not so much cheese and a sprinkle of herbs.
