I’m having trouble finding the Adobe plug-in or 3rd party software that creates the effect of light bleeding in from the side of a 16mm film reel. It looks like a red-orange-yellowish flare, maybe from a camera’s damaged gate.

Since I couldn’t post pictures here, I created a craigslist link showing the described effects.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

You don’t need any plugin for this. Either find some suitable footage of damaged film on Artbeats and similar sources or create your own by using solids and blendmodes such as Add, Screen and Overlay. The only real trick is to animate some mask shapes on those solids to make it look like it’s coming in from outside area and then use additionl Glow and Blur effects to soften everything up.

Or, I think Tinderbox do an old film look plugin? Have a look on the Foundry’s site.
