    hello,
recently shot nightclub event on panny hvx200 using squeeze-final piece will be pal 16:9 anamorphic,
want to create some nice motion graphics for intro,

i got the flyer from that particular night,
i brought it in to AE at large size so i can zoom in/out without loss of detail(1189 x 1673) as all layers are rastered,
its split into background layer, another 8-10 layers of rastered text, and another 5 layers of rastered logos and graphics,

i need advice on setting up,
once thats sorted i’ll be playing with each of layers independently in 3d space,
idea is to pan/zoom across background, have the text/graphics layers animated and coming into view-finally zooming out to reveal whole flyer(which i’m gonna rearrange/redesign so it sits neater within the 16:9.

please let me know mistakes to avoid/good workflow for a final solution-hope its all clear enough.

    Ello,

Try to set up your parts(in the beginning) of the flyers before you animate the camera.
Use the top view and position the parts with different z-axis and y or whatever. First set your end position(in this case this is the begin position cause you want the the hole flyer to be the ending, right?)at the last frame.
‘Fly with the camera trought the objects or something. BOJAKA!

Iff youre a beginner, maby this helps
Iff youre an advanced user, your probebly thinking: shut up!

    thanks for the tips,

i see the effect i want on lots of tv adverts,
the cam is roaming in 3d past 2d graphics on x,y and z axis until it gets to the brand design,

i want the text moving around in space-the cam flying toward some layers on z axis while other layers slide past on x & y until the layers reach the final arrangement and the cam pulls back to reveal it.

need to know how to set up comp so that i can view the flyer at full size, but also have the 16:9 window overlaid so i can see whats in shot whilst keeping an eye on the entire layout outside of the window,
    hope that makes sense!

    Aha,

Just open the comp of your layers and pull it out off of the window where all the comps are in. Then iff you open te ‘work’comp, you’ll see two comp windows. It is an easier workflow.
Here you can better re-position you layers and see the effects on it in the ‘workcomp’.
This depends of how you setup you your comps…
If you are working with one comp(camera, all the layers,….), just precomp your layers in the composition. Then pull on the sunshine icon. Then it will affect in the comp with the camera.
This is how i work for quck camera movements with a lot of layers.
Try using parents for good results.

    Dear streth

No problem man, you can send it to tielmandewaele@gmail.com and i take a look at it.

I understand completly when you say: ‘maybe getting too ambitious with what i want to achieve and my knowledge of AE’

I got the same problem many many times! Full of ideas, but then the problem is how can i fix this?
After effects is a pain in the ass. It real fun, but it gets you so damn long to get at a higher level.
Ive been bissy with after effects for 2 years now, and still there are meany things that i still cant fix, nobody cant, because it is a very complex program. But when you get at a surten level, youre off to go! Than the fun starts! Im sort of there right now.
Before you do something, make a storyboard and think how you would comp this. A specialy when you doing precomps. Youlle have to now what to do later already!

Send it over and i can tell you some ideas or tips.

    Peace
    Tielman

    Peace
