cinewave emergency
i have posted this over at the cinewave forum – but since the EOL announcement there’s not a lot of traffic there apart from the odd tumbleweed
here’s the problem:
I’m on a deadline and as usual my equipment has decided to go AWOL
when i open FCP i get the message that it cant find my external devices ie pro digital plus bob….i also have the pro analog bob.
i have checked the hardware and it’s all plugged in correctly…when i go to the cinewave prefs in system preferences it says that both bobs are connected to the right tethers.
i have tried switching ports for each bob, only having one bob etc…. nothing
this is doing my head in – any ideas PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Basic stuff to try:
Trash FCP Prefs
Repair all Disk Permissions
Power down the Mac for one minute, then restart to do a clean boot.
Re-set your A/V Preferences in FCP. Maybe do a DV-NTSC Easy Setup, then switch back to whatever Easy Setup you’re using.
Create a New Project. If FCP sees your BOB’s, then copy all material from the old project to the new.

thanks for your advice…ive just tried all those suggestions and FCP is still not seeing my BOBs
also just got the following message
“This computer does not have any serial borts matching those specified by the current device control preset

when you switched over to Kona 2 how did you handle all your old cinewave clips and or projects – will the Kona board play these clips as they are or do they need to be converted?

i was getting so desperate i tried calling you a few times at your work number…..it seems though i have discovered the problem.
for some inexplicable reason the cinewave 4.5 codec seemed to have unistalled itself!!! once i dropped the codec back in the quicktime folder final cut opened up fine.
this is very strange – in all your past cinewave experiences have you ever heard or seen a codec unistall itself?
interested in your wisdom as to what could be going on here.

I don’t save any old media except After Effects renders. but the Kona 2 will play cinewave files using the AJA 2Vuy Sequence Setting. Very handy dandy feature.

I try not to work on the weekend. 🙂 We were out on the lake all day today so it was a nice day here.
Never ever saw anything like that in my Cinewave use. I do remember having to pull the CineWave codec out of the Quicktime Folder to do use other software on my machine at one time. I used to pull out the CineWave elements and throw them on the desktop. When I went back to FCP, I would throw the CineWave elements back into the folder. It’s been over a year since I ran the CineWave so I don’t remember why I did that.
