I’m writing a story for the next edition of The COW magazine, about how to start using After Effects to not only earn money with, but earn a living.

That is, not using AE in the course of your work, where you could use anything to do the job…but After Effects itself as the job…or as close to that as you can get.

Please contact me **directly,** not here, if you can help.

Specifically, I’d like you to tell me how you got your first job with AE at the center. Then how you got your second one. Finally, the features in AE that are most helpful in your day-to-day job. Send me a note, I’ll call you, and we can take care if it in less time than an email or post would take.

Again, please don’t respond here. I’ll only have screen names for attribution, will only have here to ask follow-up questions, and other obstacles too numerous to mention.

So if you can help, send me an email, to tim at creativecow dot net.

Did I mention that I need you to respond to me directly and not here? 🙂 Perhaps we can continue the conversation here after I finish the article, yet another reason to subscribe if you don’t already.

    Thanks loads,

    Tim

Oops, thanks for the heads up. I’ll talk to our massive IT department about it.

    Tim,

Did you know that you typed that message two days in the future (Oct. 26). Funny that I could read it and it’s only Oct. 24th.

By the way, I got my first job using AE when the client called CoSA and asked if there was anyone in LA who knew how to use After Effects version 1. At the time, you could count the number of AE users in LA on one hand.

Somehow I don’t think my story will help anyone. Unless of course they are also working two days in the future and so know in advance which jobs are going out for bids. Maybe you are on to something!

When I returned from my last trip to the future, I guess I didn’t come back quite far enough. Thanks for the heads up.

    Always a forward thinker, me.

    Hi Trish,

Yes, Tim’s talents include some that are rather amazing, time travel among them. ;o)

Seriously, we just had Eric throw the date a couple of days ahead so that it would force Tim’s post to “float” for a couple of days so more people would see it.

That, and we did it to see who had their coffee and was awake.

    Have fun, Trish.
