I’m an Avid user defecting to FCP. When I go into trim on the FCP I want to pick where my trim happens ie – V1, A1, A2 I want to move to the left and A3, A4 I want to move to the right, all in one move. This is achievable on the Avid by holding down the shift key and highlighting the side and direction of the slug you want to move. After reading the manual and trying thru application, it appears that I can only do all left ripple, all middle scroll or all right ripple edits. Is there a way to do what I described above?

    sure you can Joseph

first select your ripple edit tool (press ‘rr’) then Command-Click the edit (in the same way you would have Shift-Clicked with Avid)
then you can use the usual trim methods to perform the edit.

one thing to be aware of is of course you don’t want to have ‘Linking’ turned on when you do this (that might be why you appeared to only be able to edit one side or the other)

    hope that helps
