I got a Mpeg1 file from a client. It looked and sounded great on the desktop but I couldn’t import the audio into FCP4.5 on a Mac G5. The video imported great. Is the problem Mpeg 1, FCP or me? And what do I do about it?

You’ll have to export it into another fomat. Export it into whatever format you’re working in. If you’re in DV do that. If you’re uncompressed do that. You can export it from QT Pro.

You need to use a separate program, such as MPEGStreamclip, to de-mux the MPEG1 files.

Google it. It’s a free download, and it’s an easy learning curve.
