I have been trying to get a font to work with FCP but it just will not allow me to use it for some reason. I loaded the font with Fontbook, and that should be picked up in FCP but is isn’t showing up in the options for a usable font when I try to use the text tool. It wont even let me use it in Boris if I try to use Text3D to do text. I am supposed to be using Futura Condensed Medium, or Futura Condensed (neither seems to work).

Sorry no postscript fonts in FCP,
only Truetype, Open Type and Bitmap fonts work in FCP.

IF you really need the font work in After Effects which does not have the restriction.

Adding to the font problem..after upgrading to FCP HD 5.0.2 and OsX 10.4.2 previously used fonts within fcp are not keying well and the sizes have changed. eg. optima original and the “new” optima are not the same.. got any ideas? I was using the basic text which was working just fine prior to the upgrades. Unfortunately, the OS and FCP upgrade were done at the same time so I’m not sure where to chase the problem. Any direction would be appreciated.

    regards,
    bob
