Final Cut Pro Compressor Help
Please help ASAP! I need to know the best setting for compressor for a movie that is about 1 hour and 30 min to 1 hour and 45 min. So if you could please tell me the best presets or if i have to make a new one for the movue to get ready for DVD Studio Pro. Also should I have A-Pack do the encoding for the AIFF audio or let DVD Studio Pro do so! Thanks in Advance for your help!!!

Just go to Compressor and use the “Best Settings” for 90 minute movie.

Thank you! What if it is 1 hour and 45 min and where do you find this setting in compressor. I have also heard automatic is not good, do you know why that may be…and should i use a-pack for the sound or just let dvd studio pro do the audio encoding?

do you mean mpeg-2? is that better than the dvd preset or creating a quicktime preset?…someone told me to create a preset “QuickTime” dont know if that is right

Just use the high quality mpeg-2 preset. Use the correlating dolby digital audio preseet.

There should be a 120 min setting. You’re cutting it too close for the 90min setting.

ok so i will use the mpeg-2 90 min and 120 min with the best quality encoding…is that right…thank you for all your help!

That should work. I just used the 90min setting in Compressor 2 yesterday. Didn’t change anything and it looked pretty good. Heck 1 pass VBR is pretty decent, right inside DVD SP. I usually just export qt refs and drop them in DVD SP and use the 1 pass and the aiffs it creates for client approvals. When I get the final approval, I use compressor and dolby digital for the audio, and replace the qt refs with mpeg 2s from compressor.

DVD Recorders are even nicer for this. I just run the project directly out to my Philips DVDR-75 recorder and then send that off for Client approval. Real-time and really easy. 🙂

Do you mean, just a regular dvd recorder that you can get at Best Buy or so on! What quality should I look for when buying a dvd recorder to get just as good as quality as doing it the way through DVD Studio Pro and a Computer Burner. Also if I export the movie out of the S-Video will it do sound and audio…I didnt think so…Do I need to get one of those splitters also? Please let me know asap!!Thanks for your help!

Please help/….I got a dvd recorder and it is not recognizing the fcp print to tape…how do i do this…i was using a firewire cable should i use a different connection from apple computer to dvd recoreder!!!
