My freeze frame looks fine on the canvas but on the monitor the whites are just flickering away. I ‘ve never had this problem on any other projects. I’m wondering if a gaussian blur would help or what could be done to calm this down.
    Thanks DB

    Hey Danny

If you haven’t already done so, you might want to check your levels against the the scopes. Press Option 9 to bring up the scopes, and make sure your white level is not exceeding 100% … use either the color corrector, broadcast safe, proc amp or levels to bring them down if necessary.

    Cheers

Or, it could be that you’ve chosen a frame with too much motion bewteen fields. FCP toggles between fields on still frames and this only shows on an NTSC monitor, not VGA monitors. Try choosing a slightly different frame that is “quiet” when you park your cursor on it in the timeline.

or deinterlace it of course. or blend fields. or “reduce flicker”. check out my plugins (https://www.mattias.nu/plugins/) for better versions than the built in options.
