  How do you set up an external viewing monitor?

  Atrain,

  You hook up a camcorder or deck via FireWire and run the analog or S video outputs to your monitor. Or, if you have a capture card, you can monitor from that.

  Look at page 55 of the manual. It gives detailed information about how to connect external audio and video monitors.
