Hello,
I’ve been trying to make MPEGs with FCP4.
So far I’ve only come across with MP4 which look very pixelly and not very good. Any suggestions?
Many thanks,
Nicolas

i tried quick times, they look much better BUT they take up a lot of space, specially considering it’s a 34 minute presentation…

August 17, 2005 at 1:06 pmThe larger you make the mpegs the better they look… MPEG-4 files might result in smaller files than MPEG-1 files would… What is the delivery? PC playback or?

They want short segments out of the 34 min presentation for PC Playback, to include in Power Poing presentations and to email them? The better the quality the better though?
So, you think MPEG1 is the best choice?
Many thanks,
Nicolas

August 17, 2005 at 5:01 pmMPEG-1 is the best choice for you in this case, unless you wanted to encode to WMV-9 with either Flip4Mac ($99 or $179) or Popwire ($29) plugins. WMV-9 encoding would give you the highest quality output at the lowest bitrates, but you need to purchase an encoder to generate directly from the mac. You can encode MPEG-1 with Compressor, which I believe is the only way to do so (don’t have a system with FCP in front of me to check if you can encode directly to MPEG-1 from FCP). If you encode with Compressor, make sure that you select the Web output option in order to multiplex the audio and video streams into a system (program) stream.
