  • FCP and editing HD100 true 24p???

Posted by Tim Baker on August 16, 2005 at 12:55 am

I am getting my HD100…hopefully by the end of the month.

Am I going to need a third party plug-in or something to take advantage of the true 24p frame rate? If so, which plug-in seems to be the best?

I just see a lot of posts about people having trouble editing true 24p in FCP 5, which I have.

I also have the Kona2 with Kbox and I/O LA and all current firmware updates…does the input process used make a difference? I am planning on using the composite or component out of the HD100 into my Kbox…is that the right direction to go? Maybe firewire, but I figure that would be used only if I shoot in standard DV mode. I also see that the camera will internally convert to 1080i so I figure the Kbox is the way to go, especially for that.

I can’t wait to get the camera, but I will be new to posting HD.

    Thanks all.

[Tim] “Am I going to need a third party plug-in or something to take advantage of the true 24p frame rate?”

Yes, since 24p is not supported in the HDV codec.

    Yes it does
and this is a fine solution – but you will need a HD10a converter to get the component signal from the camera to the Kbox
