After months of screwing around with Adobe Premiere Pro, one of the companies that I work with is finaly bitting the bullet, and going FCP.

They use BetaSP decks, and have a BlackMagicSP capture card in the PC, which they intend to use for the new G5.

However, they also have a non Mac compatiable Raid system, and will have to purchase a Mac compatiable RAID setup.

Whats the cheapest, easiest way to get a 4+ drive RAID setup?

    firewire,fiber?

    Thanks

Define cheap…for about $1200 you can get 1TB with the following:

    G-Raid. FW 800 and can handle 8-bit and even 10-bit uncompressed (www.bhphoto.com).

ALSO, look at the FirmTek External SATA Raids (https://store.yahoo.com/firmtek/)

Cheap.. as in. 3-4 Drives (perfer SATA’s) linked in one enclosure, using RAID to where they will work with BetaSP full uncompressed settings.

    Thanks

Cheap is okay as long dependable isn’t sacrificed. Uncompressed Beta SP, 10 bit is demanding. SCSI is dependable, faster than firewire and not as costly as Fibre.

The Firmtek SATA will do you fine, as would a G-SATA…even a G-RAID FW800 can handle 4 streams of 8-bit and 2 streams of 10-bit uncompressed. G-Raid 500 is $549 at http://www.bhphoto.com. G-SATA is $150 more for the same space, but has better transfer speed.
