    Hey guys,
Messed up by reorganizing a hard drive that was a mess and didn’t think about the fact that the sequence that I was given to work with had tons of speed changes in it. Didn’t use Media Manager, but just reconnected the clips after cleaning up the hd, and all of those time changes are a mess (as I should have known). Anyhow, I am working in 4.5, but my work just got version 5 and was wondering if this speed problem has been fixed? If so, i will bring this project to work and reconnect there…otherwise, I am pretty much eye matching the footage (luckly in the timeline it still says by what percentage the clip is supposed to be sped up and slowed down, or put in reverse). But I do hope that the newest update of ver. 5 will fix this. Anyone know?

    Thanks in Advance,
    eli

    Hey Eli,

Have run into this numerous times when dealing with Offline/HDD crash issues resulting in recapturing and reconnecting. I was just at the Macworld FCP class and asked about this – the answer (word for word) : “You’re screwed.” Basically, you have to rebuild all your speed changes. I wish I had a better answer for you, but that’s what they told me and they were teaching the class in FCP 5.

    Best of luck

thanks Ben…That’s what I figured. The real pain to this all is that I reorganized those files so that it would make my life easier…and this is what I get. This is the last time that I take over someone elses project…at least one that isn’t backed up somewhere else.

    Best,
    Eli
