August 2, 2005 at 1:21 pmI wish my Wacom pen had more buttons… 3’s not enough. 🙁
Now why didn’t Apple introduce this mouse say, 5 years ago? -

August 2, 2005 at 1:54 pmPure stubborness would be my guess “We designed a one button mouse and they’re going to like it!”

August 2, 2005 at 2:34 pmI once heard somewhere that when Jobs & Wozniack 1st went to Zerox PARC to see X Windows, it was demoed on a 3 button mouse. When they were doing their 1st experiments with the Lisa & Mac prototypes, though people were afraid to use the mouse because they didn’t want to click the wrong button. I suspect that they simply stuck with it because they never figured out till now how many people like me can’t live without the scroll wheel & extra button or 2.
And $49 ain’t bad, either!

August 2, 2005 at 3:32 pmI used a third party mouse like this once with those two extra buttons on the sides and I hated it. They push accidentally all the time and do things you don’t want. I use a Wacom 6×8 with a three button mouse and it’s the best.

=====But are these actually buttons? Or is that part of the “squeeze” thing they’re talking about? ‘Cause if you have to press both of them at the same time I wouldn’t think you’d accidentally do it. But if they’re two buttons in ADDITION to the squeeze function…well that does sound confusing!

August 2, 2005 at 9:09 pmI just got a Wacom Intuos, which has a 5 button mouse & I HATE the side buttons! Click the darn things all the time by mistake. WHY can’t ALL the mouse designers take a hard look at the Logitech MX500/700 5-button mice – they’re SUPERB. Ergonomic and the extra buttons are neatly tucked out of accidental triggering zone. I’m considering returning the Intuos because the mouse is so poor.

August 2, 2005 at 9:28 pmI have a five button Kensington mouse and I have found that you can disable the buttons you wouldn’t use and those problems are a thing of tha past. You just have to install the mouse software and disable it there.
