    I have a question:

If I were using FCP 5, a Decklink HD Pro card and a ProMax 3.2TB External Array SATAMAXe, would I be able to capture in FCP using an “uncompressed” setting? OR – what codec would be best to record? This is for an HDCAM online edit.

As long as the drives support the sustained throughput needed for capture / playback of the 1080i uncompressed footage, you’ll be fine.

I run a Kona 2 with the Medea FCR2X Fibre Channel array and it’s plenty fast enough for 1080i uncompressed here. Check with ProMax on whether that array is spec’d for uncompressed 1080i work.

Hi Walter. Promax tells me it is specced for uncompressed 1080i work. I just wanted to hear it from a day-t-day user like yourself.

    Thanks,

    John
