  Pana DVX100a Issues with FCP

  Hi
  Whenever I use the multi-cam feature within FCP, I have a timecode issue with the Panasonic. The tapes are imported using their perspective camera’s, and I have not had any issues with the Sony VX series or the Canon Series of mini-DV cameras. However, when aligning my in and out points and syncing all camera’s up on the timeline, when I click the in point of the timeline, the timecode does not match up with the timecode of the master tape. (For instance, frame 1:00:00 on the timeline would be frame 00:56:14 on the master tape) Any clue? I have figured out this happens, so I am prepared for it: it is still a bother nonetheless)

  Perhaps this a 24P puldown related thing?

  The other cameras do not shoot a true progressive image at 24frames so manybe that is where the time discrepency lies.

  We are shooting in NTSC 29.97. But possibly it could have an effect. Interesting probablility.

  I can’t get my DVX100 to work with FCP via firewire.
  When I go to log and capture, FCP says the camera
  is in “local” and won’t control it or give me timecode.
  I get picture but have no control.
  I checked the camera menu and it says VTR1 or VTR2.
  I’ve tried both and neither works.
  I can go to “non controllable” and use capture now
  but then I don’t get timecode info.
  Do you know how to make it work?

  Oh, and for your problem…do you think it’s a drop frame,
  non drop frame problem? Have you checked to see
  if both source tapes are the same? Just a thought.
