  • probs using DV CAMERA for playback…

    Posted by Barb on July 15, 2005 at 8:11 pm

    I’m working with FCP4, and usually I can use my DV CAMERA w/FIREWIRE as my deck for capture, and to go to VHS player for print(by hooking RCA cables up from my camera)… Recently, I can log and capture, no problem; but my camera doesn’t seem to be getting the OUT from FCP. I should be able to see things when I play items in the time line, but also it should work when I print to Video.. but nothing happens. PLEASE HELP!

    Make sure this menu item is turned on:

    View->External Video->All Frames

    or you can hit Apple+F12

    Make sure your deck/camera is on when starting FCP.
    Make sure your Video Playback setup is correct in Audio/Video Settings.

    I have the same problem and so does a buddy of mine. I’m puzzled.

    I have a G5 powermac with final cut studio 5, Tiger and a DCR-pc1000 for a deck.

    When I playback the timline I cannot see video on the monitor. When I log and capture it shows up.

    I’m missing somthing, just not sure what.

    maybe try checking if the aduio and video playback settings are the same… in AV SETTINGS, AV DEVICES. if they are try changing them, and them change ’em back. i think that solved my prob.

    I’ve been fussing with the settings for some time now. Back and forth, nothing seems to make it work.
