    The only thing you can do is a demux to separate the video file from the audio file.
    Make a search on google with the word demux, you will find some software. You can also find one in http://www.versiontracker.com

    I don’t think demuxing is the issue here. You can use Quicktime Pro (with the MPEG2 Playback component installed) to load an m2v file, then export it to any form of Quicktime file. Of course, you won’t regain the quality/information lost during the compression to MPEG2.

    ffmpegx is a good free (shareware) tool. the qt mpeg-2 playback component works too.
