could you use the audio portion of an FCP timeline to create a podcast?
Hello all
I’m asking this question because I am really excited about iTunever 4.9 and the idea of podcasting
my understanding is that a podcast is an mp3 file and if memory serve me well you can export an mp3 fromthe timeline in fcp 4.5?
does my theory hold water or am I thinkig a little to Buck Rogers?
the reason I am asking is because I work at a University and we are looking at ways of communicating certain material with the students and to an extent parents alumni and possibly faculty the cool thing about podcasts is that they are pc/mac compatible and don’t eve require ownersip of an ipod

Wow. I’m finally old. I don’t know what podcasting is. And worse yet, I don’t seem to care. I’m only 35, what happened?

It should work fine, but you should know that Apple seems to be promoting the idea of using Garage Band to create podcasts:

I’d think about using that. If that’s what Apple is thinking people are using you can be sure that they’ll continue to add tighter integration between GB and iTunes in the future.
If that doesn’t look like a program you want to use then yeah, you can use Final Cut. I’ve never exported an MP3 from Final Cut, but I’m sure it can. If for some reason it can’t you can export an AIFF from Final Cut and then use iTunes to convert it to an MP3.
