Just curious to see what people are using for DV output. I know most people go through a DV cam or A/D box. What is the cheapest solution to kill latency? What is considered the best solution for under $500? I am looking for a solution that does not use a DV cam.
My new system on the way.
    G5 2.7 Dual.
Thanks for the great input guys.

    I’ll second the ADVC-100 / 300 suggestion.

    Very solid. Not expensive.

[Trent Wunstel] “What is the cheapest solution to kill latency?”

Firewire will always have issues with latency. It’s inherent in the technology. The digital signal has to move to whatever box is doing the AD conversion, & then it takes a few frames for the signal to get converted.

If you need a zero latency solution, you have to install a PCI card in your desktop. Look at AJA’s Kona, Auroara’s Pipe, or Black Magic’s Decklink.
