I’m okay with all the improvements and changes, EXCEPT, I HATE the banner adds inside the thread listings. That is so uneccessary, put the ads in the border like you used to.

I surmise if the ads don’t appear then the Cow will have to move south to MExico cause Ron and staff can’t survive on Pesos here in the US.

But, the ads along the right side are now covering the text in all the posts. I now have to lower the size of the text to see the whole post and then the etxt is too small and hard to read . Word wrap? Old COW did not have this problem. PC using Firefox on a 19″ at 1280 rez. No problem with any other site on the internet with normal size text.

Try deleting your temp internet files (under Tools > Options). See if that helps.

It happens when reading individual posts. As if there is no word wrap seeing the ads on the right side.

I’m using Firefox here and there are no banners on the right side blocking anything. Either out in the Post View, reading invidividual messages or reading a thread.

Also just checked Safari and the banners are sitting at the top and bottom of the thread listing with nothing blocking the text.

    running Mac OS 10.4.1 on a laptop, a G5 and a G4.

Without the fine folks sponsoring the Cow you would not have all the free service you receive here. We’d have to go to a sponsorship model which would not be as fun as “free!”

After spending 25 years in the advertising business, I full well know what ads do and why they are necessary. I just don’t think they belong mixed in with editorial content. Keep them on the sides is all I am saying.

What I said is not about whether there should be or not be pop up ads, but that the ads are covering the text on the right side unless I make the text very small. And, I am on a PC. The COW used to display text that wrapped to avoid the pop up ads on both sides of the screen.

    cheers mate,

Something is definitely wrong on your end because right now I’m on our home PC (HP running Windows XP) with Internet Explorer and everything is working correctly. Forum view, banners appear down left and right. Single post view, banners appear left and right. Thread View, banners appear top and bottom with sentence wrapping working correctly. Nothing is being covered by banners.

I’m not sure what to change on your end, but it’s not a Cow / Windows issue.

Something has changed on the COW becuase I have not changed anything here since the old COW and this just started acting this way. I think it has something to do with the site being cretaed on a Mac and not having the correct settings for a PC display. I recall this happening in the past on a different web site a year or so ago.

The ads on the right are not a banner but three large rectangles that cycle thru ads. And the text doesn’t wrap only during the display of individual posts. The text in the threads listing does wrap okay.

    cheers,
    Dylan
