  • Dropped frames during playback.

In FCP5 (this also occured in fcp hd), whenever I try to play the video out through the firewire port, I get dropped frames during playback. This is a problem which popped up just recently. We are using a dual 1.8 g5 (the first gen w/ the pci-x) with 1.5 gbs of ram. We also have an ads tech pyro box (looking to upgrade this soon) for output.

Any suggestions on how to eliminate this problem would be greatly appreciated (I’ve tried all the suggestions which I found on the net – not sure exactly where this link was from.)

I’d get a PCI card to make a new bus to separate the firewire drive and the camcorder. Another solution would be to avoid firewire drives and use internal SATA drives only. A third solution is to export your sequence as a single QT ref. movie, then reimport it an play that instead.
