  Convert edited 24P-A project in 29.97 timeline back to 24.98 timeline

  I’ve just started three 24P projects shot on DVX100A using the advanced 2:3:3:2 pulldown. Thankfully, the first project, now deep into post production, was a “practice project” for our crew to learn the camera, chroma, dof, lighting, sound, editing, etc. etc. Thank goodness it *really is* just a practice run because I think I’ve made my first big mistake!!!

  After sitting through a class with Jerry Hoffman this past weekend, I realized I SHOULD HAVE captured the 24P Advanced source footage using the “23.98 Advanced Pulldown Removal” preset. But, I didn’t because before doing the capture I consulted the FCP discussion group and got advice that I “might as well edit in a 29.97 timeline” for various reasons. So, I did just that. I captured using the NTSC DV preset and edited the sequence in a standard NTSC DV timeline. Now, after reading up about other advantages to staying in a 23.98 timeline (on Ken Stone’s site), I’m wondering if (and here’s my question to the community) I there is any way I can convert my 29.97 timeline of 2:3:3:2 footage to a 24.98 timeline WITHOUT HAVING TO RE-EDIT!?!? (Basically, this practice project is nearly in picture lock-down and about to enter color correction.)

  Am I screwed? Or is there a magical “Remove 2:3:3:2 Pulldown AFTER You Made A Stupid Mistake And Captured And Edited In 29.97” button?
