What’s the best way to get a FCP project converted to .WMV?

I have Compressor (which I do not see the option for .wmv) and I also have Cleaner 6 wich does have the .wmv option but can’t get to from FCP. SO I need to convert to something in Compressor and then open it in Cleaner to convert to .wmv. What the cleanest quality process I can acheive this?

In the future, do a search for topics such as this as you’ll find about a dozen threads in the past few months alone about .wmv’s.

To answer your question, use Flip for Mac.

As Walter said, Flip4Mac will export to WMV out of FCP, QuickTimePro, even iMovie and FCE as well as Cleaner and Squeeze4.1.

The Popwire WMV-9 Export component does the same as the Flip4Mac tool, yet it’s price is less than 1/3rd of Flip4Mac.

Flip4Mac INCLUDES WMV Player Pro which allows you to import and edit WMVs in Final Cut Pro (as well as QuickTime Pro). Not only can you export Quicktime to WMV, you can go the other way and convert your WMV files to Quicktime MOV if you want. Popwire Export component is just an export component AFAIK.

I still use Cleaner 6 for wmvs. I believe it makes WM7 files which are a couple of versions old. However, a lot of my clients are corporations whose IT deptartments are using older versions of everything, so it works out. To use Cleaner, just export from FCP a reference QuickTime movie of your program, drag it into Cleaner and you’re set. That said, I have Popwire’s solution and it’s very nice (and inexpensive compared to Flip4Mac).

WMP7.1 which can run on WIndows 98 (Pre SE) and Windows NT can play WMV9 files.
