For some unknown reason we are unable letterbox our anamorphic video. We’ve followed the instructions of the manual to a tee and have tried everything possible. We are unchecking the anamorphic box in the sequence settings and dragging it over the Overwite section of the Edit Overlay in the Canvas to edit it into the empty 4:3 sequence. And yet it is still un letterboxed. We’ve tried this with a single clip and it does work. It won’t let us scale it down ourselves and “eyeball” it either. It seems to think of it as a compoubnd clip and won’t let us select the sequence in the 4:3 timeline. We are having issues! If anyone has any tips please let us know. We are using a Black Magic Deck Link video card if that makes a difference, thanks!

In the Motion tab under Distort, change it to -33.33. That should do the trick. If you have a sequence within a sequence make sure you CONTROL click on the sequence within and OPEN IN Viewer, there you can change the Distort.

Thank you so much for the advice, it worked! Except for one thing…. Everything was going smoothly until about 8 minutes into it there was an audio pop, then the audio came back on and then beeped 3 times distincly and back to normal and then beeped again. We went back to the original sequence and rendered all audio, nothing changed. Can anybody help? Why would this happen?

You may still have to render in your nested sequence if that indeed is what you have, that’s what it sounds like. Try that, if you haven’t already.
