Single color in B&W shot aka Schindler’s List
Hi
Does anyone knwo the technique to strip all color from a shot except for one? I have a shot where I need just a red scarf to be in color, the rest of the shot black and white.
I know this was in a Final Cut Pro training book but I’ve lost it and we’re about to cut a short for a 48 Hour Film Festival so I havent got time to find it 🙂

This is commonly called the “Pleasantville” effect, named after that film.
(Am I the only person in America that disliked this film?
It was very cynical with a distasteful amoral message… but I digress.)This is a VERY common question with many answers.

It’s also described in my book, with a step by step and footage you can use. Please check it out if you like to do a lot of FX. It will save you a lot of trouble and give a deeper knowledge about how effects work with FCP. That way, you can figure out a lot of this stuff on your own–and that is empowering. 😉
