May 5, 2005 at 3:58 pmThere is no compelling reason to upgrade your OS. You gain nothing tangible in FCP4.5.
But if you feel you MUST have Dashboard, Spotlight, improved winderz networking and the new iChat, be sure to do your homework, prepare your drive and follow the instructions.
Over on apple.com, we’re getting really sick of the “I’m sorry I went to Tiger” posts which outnumber the successful upgrade posts.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

May 6, 2005 at 8:44 amyou could buy or use a existing firewire harddisk. Carbon Copy Clone your startup disk to the Firewire harddisk. Boot up from the firewire harddisk. Make an Arcive and installe og Tiger, and try it out. If it breaks your setup Return to your startup disk and wait untill the problems has been fixed. You Might want to upgrade the firewiredisk on a regular basic to check if the problems has been fixed. This approach is a heck of a lot cheaper than downtime do to a incompatible OS upgrade;-)

May 6, 2005 at 4:20 pmWe tried 10.4 & FCP 4.5 and the round trip from FCP to Motion and back
doesn’t keep any of the effects applied in motion when you return to FCP.
We did a clean install and had VERY little installed.
We are back on 10.3.8 thanks to Carbon Copy Cloner.Dajen Productions
