No need for a decklink card at home but sure would like to have better than dv quality graphics in my timeline. How do I set up a FCP project to work with say uncompresed motion/AE comps and use dv footage in the timeline?
    Thanks,

Simply change the codec to Uncompressed 8bit (or 10bit) and change the frame size to 720×486. BUT without fast enough drives you won’t get any realtime playback of your files, nor will you be able to play them out to a monitor in uncompressed without at least an AJA Io.

Are firewire 800 or internal ata drives fast enough for rt or do you need scsi ? I’m runnung a dual 1 gig g-4 and getting plenty of realtime in motion/fcp ( I have an upgraded radeon pro vid card) with internal ata. Also, what’s your recomendation for a cheap card to get ntsc playback with 8/10 bit uncompressed graphics and mostly dv footage?
    Thanks for your help,

Firewire 800 drives work if they are dual drive units like the G-RAID and the LaCie Big Disk Extremes. Those have two drives in each unit which are striped together.

Either the AJA Io LA or the Aurora PipePro. The Aurora has probably the best uncompressed codecs in the business.
