  Using 2009 Macbook Pro as external monitor for GH4

  Hey,

  New to posting in Creative Cow, not sure if this is where I should post but figured GH4 users may have an answer.

  I am trying to use my Macbook Pro 2009 as an external monitor for my GH4. It would be nice to not buy an external monitor and use what I have for filming interviews.

  I purchased a Pearstone micro HDMI cord and a J5create HDMI to USB adaptor:

  I’ve installed the correct J5 software to my mac and selected the mirror settings in display preferences. But I get nothing. It only flashes a black screen for half a second but no live viewing through the laptop.

  I’ve tried the GH4’s WIFI capabilities with a phone and tablet. Works great, but I need a larger screen to really see what’s going on.

  Any advice?
