    Hi Everyone,

I am considering purchasing the Sony PWM-200 camera because it has the preferred broadcaster specs of 50 Mbps and the 4.2.2 color space. I have been using the EX-1R for a number of years and generally happy with the results. Are those that use the camera happy with how M100 transcodes this Sony codec?

I recognize that most other NLEs handle these files natively. I wonder
what kind of degradation you’d see ingesting/transcoding into the M100.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

    All the Best,

    Jim

I don’t think that you get any degradation by using the Media 100 codec. Personally, in common with many other editors, I edit in the ProRes 422 HQ codec. This is very efficient as regards file sizes but has only minimal effect on the picture quality. I set my project for ProRes, and, using Sony XD Transfer, import the media I choose. There is a time lag while Media 100 renders to that codec but I don’t mind that.

Thank you Michael. I was just curious whether many people have ingested material into the Media 100 from this new camera.

    All the Best,

    Jim
