Timecode issue
Posted by Chris Stevens on October 17, 2008 at 11:39 amI capture SDI HD into my Media 100 HDx (V12.0.3) using the HDx hardware to scale & downconvert to SD. For some reason the Timecode does not pass through & every clip digitised starts at 0.
Any ideas?G5 dual 2.7, OS10.5.1, 4G RAM

October 17, 2008 at 11:49 amHm, what do you mean by “pass through”? You are doing the downconversion on acquire, I guess? Do you use RS422 deck control? What happens if you set your Media Standard to HD in the Video Input Prefs without changing anything else? Do you get Timecode then?

October 17, 2008 at 12:41 pmYes. Using downconversion on acquire. Can’t use RS422 control, as SDI signal coming from EX3. Will test HD acqiure when back in edit suite – next monday. Thanks Floh.

October 17, 2008 at 12:42 pmSo you are using FireWire as deck control? Without a deck control you don´t get TC.

October 17, 2008 at 12:46 pmOK I now understand that without Deck Control Media 100 will not see TC.
Can I use Firewire deck control while capturing SDI?G5 dual 2.7, OS10.5.1, 4G RAM

October 17, 2008 at 4:35 pmChris, I have been using the EX1 for some months now and pending Media 100’s support for XDCAM I shot in SP mode, transferred via firewire to HDV tape and upscaled through Convergent Design to HD.
Now that Media 100 version 13 supports EX media I propose upgrading to that and doing the whole thing properly, shooting HQ and staying HD for editing. Are you planning to do likewise?
