Media 100SW & Kona LHe
Posted by Fargoross on January 5, 2007 at 8:48 pmI have a system built for Final Cut using the Kona LHe card.
We are currently doing an offline edit on Media 100SW for another post house that utilizes that software.
I have a program monitor that runs off of the Kona LHe SDI output, and I’m wondering if the Media 100SW software can recognize the Kona Card so I can see my timeline on the Program monitor.
Thanks!

January 5, 2007 at 9:19 pmI can’t help you with the Kona card. However, with Media 100 Producer (the firewire enabled SW) you can output to a firewire deck and then take video out of the deck to your program monitor. We do it iwth a DSR 30 and take S-video and audio out of the deck to the program montior and audio mixer.

January 5, 2007 at 9:37 pmI believe Media 100 offers a version of their HD software that will include the drivers to use your Kona Card.
SW and Producer definately can’t do it, because they don’t include the m100 hardware drivers. I’d check in with M100 to see what they can offer you.

January 5, 2007 at 11:56 pmYes, if you contact Media 100 sales they can sell you a version of Media 100 HD that can run on your Kona card. It is not Media 100 sw/Producer, but a special version with the according hardware drivers.

January 9, 2007 at 10:43 pmWe are stuck with only Media100SW for these edits, so i’m afraid there will be no software upgrade.
Wayne, How do you get Media100SW to send it’s timeline out via Firewire? I have a DSR-45 deck connected via Firewire to my G5Quad, and the DSR sending it’s composite out to the monitor. Right now the signal is not being read via Firewire by the DSR-45 (it has a small LCD monitor on the deck).
Thanks!

January 9, 2007 at 10:52 pmMedia 100 sw does not have FireWire I/O. Media 100 Producer, the successor of Media 100 sw has FireWire I/O.

Thank you.
Does Media100SW support any type of video out that would be on a PowerPC QuadG5?

If you mean playing out video to a Video Monitor in realtime, no. You can export QuickTimes (e.g. to go to Media 100 i or to DVD and web), or you can upgrade to Producer with FireWire I/O.
