Now Media 100 is owned by Boris & Boris Red runs native in the M100 timeline. But I use AE for effects & compositing, & have never used Boris Red. Should I learn Boris? Is Boris as good as AE? What are you M100 editors using AE or Boris? Your view on this would be interesting…

I use Graffiti all the time. It’s buggy but maybe now that both companies are owned by one organization intergration may be better. I import AE footage into my timeline for spots… I never import/export my timelines between the two since my versions don’t play nicely… Red (fx) is pretty nice. Each keyframes to the beat of their own drummer, however, experience in one will help with the other. Boris does things like borders, shadows and extrusions a little easier than Adobe, IMHO. Keying, masks, compositing is more elegant in AE…

I used Boris Red on a daily basis and I love. All my 2D titling, quick 3d titles, compositing, and some color correcting. All within Media100. I recommend it. I don’t like exporting independent clips from Media100 to After Effects and then back to Media100 for layout. Media100 “program” export to After Effects is a great feature, but I have never had to use since I have had Boris. Give some plugs for Boris and your set. I am cutting mostly 30 sec. spots, promos and infomercials.
