    Dual 533mhz G4
    1 gig ram

Click on an option or switch modes in the edit suite, 2-3 second delay.

Even entering timecodes results in about a when second delay before the change shows.

Somebody please tell me there’s some little bit of Mac voodoo I need to do to speed this up.

If I recall correctly this was an issue with 8.0 – I remember being terribly disappointed when I first installed it on my 867. Download and install the 8.1.1 update and you should notice a faster response in the UI.

You definitely should upgrade to V8.1.1 (free) or to V8.2.2 and the corresponding OS/Quicktime version from the CPG. Many things have been speeded up there. Plus, some more RAM (at least 1.5GB) will help also. But overall your CPU is not the fastest machine under OSX, so you probably will not get the OS9 speed. A dual1GHz system is the minimum I would recommend for Media 100 on OSX; a DualG5 will be even much faster.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, a new machine is not an option. I will try the upgrades you mention, and the additional RAM. I also got a suggestion from someone offline that I use the Disk Utility to “Repair Permissions” after installing any software. I tried this and it actually did help a little.
