    With apple announcing that it is going to an Intel chip. What does this mean for Media100, its hardware and future upgrades? I

    Don’t worry too much about it. Intel is just making a physical chip. The progamming inside the chip will be Apple and Media 100 should be able to supply easy updates to any of the minor thread changes.

    Most of the guesses I read about the Apple->Intel move suggest that Apple is first switching its Laptop line and the consumer products (everything that uses a G4 today) to Intel, with XServe and PowerMacs being the last systems that are going to Intel (in ~2 years). So while 2 years are not that long there is still much time to get jobs done on a G5 system. And Media 100 always was able to deliver new versions that supported new OSes and CPUs quickly (usually much quicker than FCP or AVID), and I think this will also be true for the Intel switch. Apple is really trying to make this transition easy for developers…
